What is the WTS Companion app?
Companion is your custom WTS mobile app that travels with you to support your learning wherever you go. In this first version, we wanted to build the app to do just one thing well: allow you to download and listen to your lectures without needing an internet connection. It lets you,
- Listen to all of your current lectures offline
- Download in ~5 seconds (and in bulk)
- Listen with your screen off
How do I set up my account?
The Companion app is exclusively built for Westminster students and therefore simply uses your account in Populi—no additional log-ins needed! If you cannot sign in, however, confirm that:
- You are using your WTS Populi account (this is also the same login you use for Canvas)
- Your Populi account is active
- Your device has an internet connection during sign-in
If sign-in still does not work, contact Student Success at support@wts.edu.
How do I access my lectures?
Companion is designed to automatically provide access to lectures from any WTS course, in which you are currently enrolled (CCEF courses beginning with 'PTC' are unavailable).
If you notice that a course or lecture is missing, please contact Student Success at support@wts.edu.
How long will I be able to access my lectures?
Currently, you will have access to lectures for up to 14 days after the last day of your current term. After that two-week grace period, your lectures will be unavailable. It is on our roadmap to extend access beyond this 14 day window.
How do I download lectures for offline listening?
There are two ways to download your lectures:
- Download each individual lecture by clicking the download icon next to each lecture title.
- Bulk download all lectures within a course by clicking on the downward arrow icon in the upper-righhand corner of your screen.
Downloads require an active internet connection, available storage on your device, and your enrollment in a WTS course.
If a download fails, try connecting to a stable Wi-Fi network, restarting the app, and starting the download again.
What if a lecture does not start or stops unexpectedly?
If lecture playback does not start or stops unexpectedly,
- check your device volume and audio output
- delete and re-download the lecture, or
- restart the app and try again.
If the issue continues, please contact support@wts.edu with the course name, lecture name, and a short description of what happened.
How do I share an idea or feedback about the app?
The best way to get us feedback is to fill out this quick form.
Thank you! We appreciate it 🫶🏻
