In MTE I, students take a Progress Evaluation partway through the program. This evaluation shows students how much progress they have made and helps them focus on areas of difficulty for the remainder of the program. At the end of MTE I, students must pass the Qualifying Exam

In MTE II, students take a midterm exam halfway through the program. This helps students to see what areas of their language development require more attention in the second half of the program. At the end of MTE II, students must pass the Qualifying Exam (a different exam from the Qualifying Exam for MTE I).
